About Bakewell Tae Kwon-Do School
Hi my name is Martin Hilton, know as George and i am the instructor at Bakewell Tae Kwon-Do. I started the club in bakewell in june 1994 having gained my black belt at a club in Chesterfield where i live
Having achieved my goal of black belt in 1990 i decided to set myself a new target , that of becoming and instructor and to teach others the art that's had become so dear to me
Over the next 3 years i continued to work within the club as an assistant instructor , increasing my knowledge in teaching and after several courses at our academy in bristol i successfully passed my instructors examination
Now i was ready to start my own club!
A good location was an important factor in my choice of Bakewell is that at that time there seemed not too many things were available for people with a sporting interest
So the club was born! the seed planted!
The growth of the club was slow at first , but strong and the club gained its first black belt in 1998
Since those early days of Bakewell Tae Kwon-Do i have successfully gained my second Dan , the club has currently gained 10 black belts and many area and national awards in competition
As we have grown as a club we have had to move to new premises located just out of Bakewell , we now train at the war memorial in Ashford in the Water . Also a new venue at Great Longstone School Sports Hall has recently opened and as with the Bakewell club growth with this new venue will be a posistive one for the future of Bakewell Tae Kwon-Do
As a seed will grow into a Towering Tree , then training in Tae Kwon-do can help you grow physically as well as mentally for a better way of life, of that i am in no doubt
Thanks
MLG Hilton (Instructor BAK TKD)
